Master in Corporate Finance - MaCoFin

The era of rapid and radical changes has influenced the interconnected global economic system. The financial turmoil and its challenges have convinced executives and managers to undertake new routes towards a renewed path of value creation and growth.

In these days, the management of financial resources and the relationships with financial markets and investors are critical and fundamental objectives within firms, financial institutions and other organizations. Corporate Finance has become increasingly important due to the stronger attention that managers have to dedicate to raising capital, financial planning, risk management and investment activities. The current financial environment requires new skills and competences to succeed. Those that will be ready and prepared to cope with the new challenges will have better professional opportunities in the near future.

LUISS Business School’s Master in Corporate Finance (MaCoFin), developed in partnership with Deloitte, has the objective to shape young professionals who want to develop their careers in the corporate finance divisions of large firms, in the divisions of corporate investment banking of financial institutions or in financial consulting firms.

The program intends to offer theoretical and applied knowledge; lectures will focus on the analysis and discussion of cases and problems, and will be integrated by a final project work.

Admission to the Master’s program is based on the following pre-requisites:

• University degree in Economics, Statistics, Law, Engineering or other scientific disciplines.
• Final exam grades should be no lower than 100/110 or equivalent.
• Good English knowledge.
• Gmat is preferred, but not mandatory.

The acceptance board will take into consideration young graduates in other disciplines with a good academic résumé and with eventual previous experience related to the program’s courses. The selection process is based on the evaluation of the résumé and an interview.

The Master program is 12-months long. The first 9 months will be lecture based and the last 3 months will be dedicated to the development of a Field Project.

The Master program is structured as follows:

• 8 pre-courses
• 500 hours of lectures
• 2 specialization profiles
• 1 Field Project

Placement & Careers
The Placement Office has been set up by LUISS Business School with the aim to offer its undergraduate and graduate students career-planning, counselling and training services in order to facilitate employment opportunities.

Seminars and Meetings with Companies
These meetings are organized with the aim to facilitate the relationship between leading Italian and foreign companies and students. The seminars provide students with the opportunity to meet managers and consultants and learn about the industries in which they operate, with particular reference to their specific values, cultures and needs.

The tuition for the program is 15,000 Euros plus VAT 20% which are paid in 3 installments of 5,000 Euros plus VAT 20% as follows:

• First at the confirmation of admission to the program
• Second due by February 29, 2012
• Last due by June 30, 2012

Tuition includes all texts and materials related to the program, plus other academic services provided to the students:

• Computer labs and internet access
• LUISS Guido Carli library access, including library catalogs and all databases, also available via web
• Personal e-mail services

The Business School offers its most brilliant students full scholarships covering tuition fees, awarded by corporations and institutions following criteria established by the funding institution. Candidates who wish to apply for a scholarship should send a letter of request with their admission application.

Applicants may also:

• Seek funding from their current or future employer (the funding corporation);
• Apply for loans with favourable interest rates granted by Italian credit institutions within the framework of conventions established with LUISS Guido Carli.
