Turin International Summer School

The Turin international Summer School is organised by the European Training Foundation (ETF), the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITC –ILO), the Faculty of Law of the University of Torino and the University Institute of European Studies (IUSE) and with the financial support of the Compagnia di San Paolo. The summer school is organised in cooperation with the International and European Forum of Migration Research (FIERI).

The Turin International Summer School aims to provide participants with specific knowledge on emerging global challenges from a United Nation and European Union perspective.

The Turin International Summer School will take place from Monday 28 September to Friday 9 October 2009, for a total of ten working days of lectures.
The Course will be run at Villa Gualino (Viale Settimio Severo 65, Torino, Italy), which also hosts the European Training Foundation. Some lectures will be also held at UN Campus.

Lectures will take place in the mornings and early afternoons from Monday to Friday.
The programme is designed as an intensive workshop, combining theoretical and practical approaches. Full-time attendance is required throughout the programme.

Lecturers will comprise international experts, University professors and officials coming from International Organisations and European Institutions.

The Turin International Summer School aims to provide to participants specific knowledge on economic, legal and social aspects related to immigration flows within the EU system.

Graduates and young professionals may apply. Undergraduates in the final year of attendance may be considered for admission. Knowledge in legal, economic and social subjects is an asset.
The course will be in English. Therefore, a good working knowledge of the English language is essential.

Candidates should fill the application form downloadable from the Turin International Summer School website (http://summerschool.iuse.it).
The following documents will complete the application form:

• 1. Copy of the official academic and professional certificate including a list of the results.
• 2. A complete curriculum vitae

The documentation should be sent to the Turin International Summer School Secretariat, at the University Institute of European Studies (see “Information and Contacts”).

The applications should reach the Turin International Summer School Secretariat not later than 21 July 2009. The admittance will be notified by email not later than 1 September 2009.

Fees are set at € 350,00 and cover registration, tutoring, teaching, equipment and stationery, documentation, training material, insurance  and lunch tickets for the training days (Monday to Friday).
Accommodation (including registration fees): participants wishing to be accommodated at Villa Gualino (venue of the course) for the whole period will benefit by the special price of € 680,00 This amount covers: board and lodging in double/triple rooms, plus registration, tutoring, teaching, equipment and stationery, documentation, training material, insurance.

Costs for travel, transports and visa procedures are not included in the fees.

Payments will be settled by bank transfer to the University Institute of European Studies, which is in charge of the organising, administrative and accounting side of the project.

A limited number of fellowships are available for students not from Torino, in order to cover part of the board and lodging expenses. Fellowships will be awarded upon a written request with their application form and after a selecting procedure on the basis of candidates’ documentation.

Besides the training activities, a photographic competition and some tourist visits may be organised during the spare time.
