International master course focusing on the development, management and curation of digital libraries. The course is designed to prepare information professionals who have or will have responsibility for managing digital conversion programs and/or implementing digital libraries and conducting digital library education programs. By completing the programme, students will acquire 120 ECTS.
The master is offered as an online education programme, where students, teachers and experts interact through a Learning Environment System. DILL Consortium is the result of the cooperation between two European Universities: University of Tallinn (Estonia) with the Institute of Information Studies, and the University of Parma (Italy) with the Department of Information Engineering.
Students will have the possibility to join a Summer School, beginnin on the month of September, in both countries, where they will be able to meet professors, participate to group workshops, and receive an introduction to the study programme: the 1st year the summer school is held in Tallinn, the 2nd year it will be held in Parma.
Students will experience a period of Internship, a planned and supervisione programme of job training and work experience in the digital library field, where they will have the opportunity to apply learnt concepts and theories to achieve the expected learning outcomes. They will choose among different European well-known institutions and companies collaborating with the DILL Consortium.
The final Master Thesis will be developed working in one of the two Universities.
The DILL International master has a wide community of alumni, professors and experts - recently reunited for the DILL 10 YEARS LATER Seminar, in Milan - who continue interacting and developing new initiatives and projects on the web, within an active professional and learning network. All of the students of DILL programme are going to join this community.
The master aims at preparing digital librarians providing them with the complex set of digital competencies and transversal skills needed to develop, curate and manage digital libraries. Students will acquire inter-disciplinary knowledge enabling them to become information professionals and satisfy the increasing demands of digital competencies in the Information Society: the DILL graduates have the required skills and competencies to fufill functions of digital curation, digital preservation and content management for digital library or other digitization projects. in different sectors of society and for different user needs. They will be professionals in creating and leading digital library projects, being able to make proper technical and organizational choices in order to march and satisfy user needs.
Obiettivo del master è di fornire una formazione specifica per bibliotecari digitali, dotandoli del complesso di competenze digitali e di abilità trasversali necessarie per saper sviluppare, curare e gestire biblioteche digitali. Gli studenti acquisiranno conoscenze interdisciplinari per diventare professionisti dell'informazione, e soddisfare la richiesta di competenze digitali sempre più crescente nella Società dell?informazione. I diplomati del master DILL possiedono il profilo necessario per ricoprire incarichi di digital curation, preservazione digitale e gestioni di contenuti all'interno di biblioteche digitali o progetti di digitalizzazione, in diiversi settori di lavoro e per diverse esigenze delle comunità di utenti. Sono professionisti nel creare e gestire progetti di biblioteche digitali, in grado di applicare le scelte tecniche e gestionali adeguate al fine di raggiungere e soddisfare le esigenze degli utenti.
